Introduction: Measles is a highly contagious viral disease and can cause complications and even death. Measles first infects the respiratory tract and then spreads throughout the body. It is possible at any age. But usually involves children under 5 years of age. After more than 5 decades of vaccination in our country, one of the questions raised is, has vaccination been able to affect the age and gender distribution of the infected? This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the age and sex distribution of confirmed measles patients referred to Akbar Children's Hospital in Mashhad. Method : In this study, children who were admitted to Akbar Children's Hospital between March 2023 and April 2024 with a possible diagnosis of measles were examined, and samples for Measles PCR were taken from all of them as a census. The data collection tool was patient file documentation. Statistical analysis was done using spss 21 software. Result : A total of 34 laboratory tests of measles in children hospitalized in this center were performed by PCR method. 26 of them were positive. Of these, 9 (35%) were girls and 17 (65%) were boys. Although the chi-square test did not show this difference to be significant, the frequency of male sex was significantly higher than female with positive PCR. In terms of age distribution, the minimum and maximum ages were 15 days and 12 years, respectively. The average age of children with positive PCR was 31.3 ± 40.7 months and the median age of them was 12 months. Conclusion: The age distribution of the patients was based on the predictions made in the previous sources and the average age of the patients was approximately 2.5 years. According to the findings, the incidence of measles in the population of boys was almost twice that of girls.
