Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is an uncommon immune disorder that often presents with varied symptoms, leading to diagnostic delays. A 34-year-old woman arrived at our hospital with shortness of breath and a productive cough. A CT scan of the lungs revealed a right-sided pleural effusion, along with bronchiectasis and consolidation in the right lower lobes. Based on her medical history and physical examination, CVID was suspected, prompting further tests to measure serum immunoglobulin levels. The lab results confirmed the diagnosis, showing reduced levels of IgG, IgM, and IgA. The patient was treated with monthly intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG). After three months of follow-up, she reported feeling well and experienced no further issues.
